The Senior Payroll Manager will help to drive the strategy of current and future Payroll transformation goals through automation, ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and filings, creating and maintaining all Payroll processing documentation and required forms, and operate as a subject matter expert for all Payroll-related inquiries.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local government mandates related to wage requirements

  • Operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to help resolve issues

  • Ensure accurate processing of payrolls

  • Prepare and reconcile ad-hoc payroll reports upon request

  • Review and balance payroll reports and time files for accuracy before processing

  • Analyze payroll issues and recommend corrective actions

  • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits

  • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance

  • Keeps detailed and organized payroll records

  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns

  • Protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential

  • Effectively manage and build excellent working relationships

  • Collaborate with Benefits, HR, and Finance to resolve issues

  • Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and communicate them effectively.


  • Bachelors Degree

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred

  • Minimum of 10+ years in Payroll encompassing multi-state, unions, wage attachments and tax reconciliations

  • Experience with payroll applications (ie DayForce, SAP, ADP)

  • Advance knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Uses time effectively and efficiently, concentrating efforts on the more important priorities.

  • Maintains calm under pressure. Ability to multi-task, manage time and accept changing priorities

  • Is personally committed to and actively works to continuously improve himself/herself and understands that different situations and levels may call for different skills and approaches

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; appropriately communicates across all levels

  • Ability to analyze/interpret data and take appropriate action.

  • Must be available and flexible to work variable hours including weekends and holidays when needed
