Business Consultant (Calculation Tester)

Job description:

The Business Consultant position within the Sales Illustrations team is crucial to ensuring our calculations are correct and regulatory requirements are satisfied. The Business Consultant will test, document, analyze results, document any deviations and provide cause when possible. The Business Consultant works closely with Actuaries, Developers and other areas within Business and IT to devise or solve complex problems considering business and/or system limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. . The analyst will be responsible for working with systems analysts and business analysts in identifying and providing assistance with problem resolution. In addition, the analyst must use various software packages that assist in the verification process (e.g. Beyond Compare, Excel, WinZip).

To help us achieve our mission, we are hiring a Business Consultant/Calculation Tester to join our team.

What great looks like in this role:

Our ideal Business Consultant/Calculation Tester candidate is detail oriented with a Mathematics background and business knowledge of our MM Life Products. Youll use your skills to verify the accuracy of the newly developed capabilities to ensure our advisors are presenting accurate and compliant proposals. Youre also learn how the business develops new products and work directly with the business to define and validate those new products.

Objectives of this role:

  • Assure actuarial and mathematical correctness and regulatory requirements are met for verbiage and front end of the Companys sales illustration systems

  • Learn the basic concepts and calculations used in the various illustration systems This includes new and old products as well as annual updates for both traditional and non-traditional life products

  • Demonstrate proficiency in at least one programming language preferably Fortran.

  • Identify and report errors through the appropriate error reporting system.

  • Identify and provide assistance with problem resolution working with systems analysts and business analysts

Daily and monthly responsibilities :

  • Formulate and define business and/or systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable industry requirements.

  • Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering business and/or system limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.

  • Provide analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper business and/or system requirements.

  • Guide and advise less-experienced Business Analysts.

  • Competent to work at the highest technical level of most phases of business and/or systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.

Skills and qualifications:

  • College degree or five plus years of insurance experience, with at least 2 years in a related field

  • Strong mathematical/analytical background (math degree a plus)

  • Strong programming experience in Fortran.

  • Strong experience with TSO.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Product and sales illustration experience.

  • Ability to adapt and perform under tight deadlines.

  • Great interpersonal skills.

  • Strong Excel skills.

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred qualifications:

  • APL familiarity

  • Beyond Compare Knowledge

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to work in a neighborhood setting
