The work of the position involves analytical and evaluative dutiesrelated to computer networks and/or telecommunications with primaryknowledge requirement of information processing methodology,information technology, computer capabilities, and processingtechniques. The work includes departmental responsibilities withinthe institution.
Incumbent oversees implementation of new system hardware andsoftware and develops operating procedures. Monitors the ongoingoperation of a complex network environment with a large number ofusers in an installation and ensures corrective action to restoreoperational service is accomplished.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbentis charged with responsibility for maintaining security of theinstitution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede allothers required by this position and are performed on a regular andrecurring basis.
Occasional travel - Travel may be required for training and/or workrelated issues.

You must have IT related experience demonstrating each of the fourcompetencies listed below.
You must have one year of specialized experience at the next lowerGS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience thathas equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications tosuccessfully perform the duties of the position and is typically inor related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experienceis typically gained in the IT field or through the performance ofwork where the primary concern is IT.

In accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3307, a maximum entry age of 36 has beenestablished for initial appointment to a position in a Bureau ofPrisons institution.
The representative rate for this position is $82,056 per annum($39.32 per hour).
Special Conditions of Employment Section:
Initial appointment to a supervisory/managerial position requires aone-year probationary period.
The incumbent is subject to geographic relocation to meet the needsof the agency.
Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis,physical, and background investigation. All applicants are subjectto National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks.
All applicants not currently working in an institution will berequired to complete a qualification inquiry regarding convictionsof misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence in order to be authorizedto carry a firearm.
The Core Value Assessment (CVA) is an in-person assessment that mustbe facilitated at a Bureau of Prisons Human Resource Servicingoffice. On the day of the scheduled interview, a CVA will beadministered. The applicant assessment must be completed within a70 minute time period and a passing score must be obtained. Furtheremployment consideration will not be extended if the applicant failsto complete the examination or fails to achieve a passing score.Note: The Core Value Assessment will not be administered to currentBOP employees.
Successful completion of the \"Introduction to CorrectionalTechniques,\" three-week training course at Glynco, Georgia isrequired.
