The FlightControl Systems Engineer position is offered at either Bell s main campusin Fort Worth, Texas or the Shelton, Connecticut office. For thoseworking in the Fort Worth area, relocation is available. For thoseworking in the Connecticut area, Bell s Shelton office allows candidates towork remotely on the same diverse range of exciting programs without having torelocate. Travel to the main campus in Fort Worth for coordinationmeetings, testing, and other on-site activities can be expected. Foreither location, travel to various suppliers may be expected depending on theassignment.
Bell has multipleopenings for Flight Control Systems Engineers to support the development ofConventional and Fly-By-Wire Helicopters and Tiltrotor Aircraft, both mannedand un-manned, as well as new and novel products and platforms, such as autonomousUrban Air Taxi and Product transportation/delivery systems.
The systems requirementsassociated with these products are challenging and exciting. Our existingaircraft systems and emerging concept vehicles provide opportunities forsystems engineering, simulation and test of configurations and technologiesthat will shape the future of aviation. This position will be part of a diverseteam of engineers capable of executing in a challenging and fast-pacedenvironment.
The Flight ControlSystems Engineer will be responsible for:
Design and test ofFlight Control System (FCS) with embedded DO-178 software and DO-254 complexhardware, including Fly-By-Wire Flight Controls Systems
System and softwaredesign, requirements management, systems specifications, interface management,system safety assessment, verification and validation testing in desktopsimulation environment and systems integration labs, aircraft flight test, andaircraft/systems qualification and certification
Development of systemsarchitecture, redundancy management, electronic hardware design andintegration, and actuator design and integration
Development of airvehicle flight control laws, flight director, navigation, guidance, andautonomous systems control algorithms controls systems - such as navigation,visual odometry, obstacle avoidance, object identification and comparablecontrol behaviors
Qualifications Education Requirements:
Bachelor s Degree isrequired. Major in Electrical Engineering, AerospaceEngineering or Computer Engineering is preferred.
Bachelor s Degree inother engineering disciplines will be considered with applicable softwaredevelopment experience.
Masters Degree inthe Engineering disciplines mentioned above is preferred.
9+ years ofexperience in the aerospace industry, particularly rotorcraft, ispreferred. Other industry experience will be considered.
Experience with Modelbased systems engineering.
Familiarity with RTCADO-160, MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-178, RTCA DO-254, SAE ARP4754A, SAE ARP4761, 14CFR Part 27 and Part 29 for commercial and military qualification andcertification of aircraft systems, and multiple data protocols.
Experience with creationof system specifications, requirements traceability, and verification.
Creation of systemarchitecture and wiring schematics.
Generation of SystemSafety Assessments, Failure Hazard Analysis, and Certification and Test plans.
Familiarity with avionicsystems, electrical power, mechanical controls, hydraulic systems andactuation, and flight test.
Experience with flightcontrol system development and testing in a systems integration lab.
Experience with aircraftinstallation, functional testing, and troubleshooting.
